Sweet Summertime

Well, since autumn is quickly approaching, I thought I might need to chronicle the rest of our summer. As we all know, San Jose was a destination of choice this summer and I tried to get in as much as possible while I was there. On my last trip out there, we finally made it to the Winchester Mystery House. WooHoo! I was so excited. It wasn't at all what I thought it would be though. I was expecting a haunted house type thing, but it ended up just being a tour of a strange house built by a strange woman. Now don't get me wrong-I loved every minute of it, and it was totally worth the time, I just thought it would be a different kind of tour-ya know 'tell a scary story about the seance room and then close the doors and turn out the lights' kind of tour.

Then, on our way home, we took a little detour out to Monterey to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I am a nut when it comes to the oceanic world and anything having to do with it. So needless to say I was like a kid in a salty, blue, water-filled candy store! We had to visit all the exhibits and see a show and take tons of pics.
The Jellies! This was like a waterfall type tunnel thing that was supposed to show the ferocity of waves, or a tide or something or another, but I honestly don't remember what. It was cool anyway.
This was just in front of one of their ginormous tanks. They have people that get in the tanks in scuba gear for feeding and for cleaning the tanks. Hmm-maybe I should put my scuba certification to good use. (Or maybe I should just go on a good diving excursion.)
Mike touching a sting ray.

We had such a great time driving out of our way 60 miles south on coastal highway. Beautiful scenery, and well worth the time. Next time we will head north to the Redwoods. (Or maybe it will be a weekend road trip. . .)
